Markets are the heartbeat of southern French life. Arrive early—most wind down by 1pm.

80-150 stalls with seasonal produce, organic fruit and veg, fresh fish, charcuterie, cheeses, olives, honey, spices, clothing, brocante. Authentic Provençal atmosphere. 7am–1pm.
Large, lively market under plane trees. Fresh produce, cold meats, cheeses, honey. True southern atmosphere. Also Saturday morning producers' market (April–October).
Smaller village market with good local produce. Pleasant and unhurried.
Food-focused with excellent quality, plus clothes, fabric, books, plants. Famous wine town—perfect for tasting afterwards.
Bustling market along the Canal de la Robine. Colourful stalls in a lovely waterside setting. Note that the Sunday market is mainly clothes and food, so if you are specifically after the brocante and antiques, check what is on before you go and target the right day.
Main market at Place Carnot in the Bastide Saint-Louis. Large and vibrant—combine with a visit to the medieval Cité.
Charming village market (also Tuesday and Thursday mornings). Good for local produce in an atmospheric medieval setting.
The big market day! Olives, cheeses, oysters beneath plane trees, often with live music. Arrive early.
Held on the port of the Canal du Midi. Particularly charming with a lovely canal-side setting.
Magnificent covered market. Fresh seafood, cheeses, charcuterie, roasted chickens. Oysters and wine stands for mid-morning treats. A feast for the senses.
